Welcome to Big Cypress Chapter, NSDAR!
The Big Cypress Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR) is located in Naples, on the beautiful Gulf of Mexico, in Southwest Florida. The name Big Cypress was chosen because of the proximity of the Florida Everglades, including Big Cypress Swamp (now Big Cypress National Preserve). Years ago, Florida had one million acres of cypress trees. Today, it still boasts the largest remaining stand of virgin Bald Cypress in the country.
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is a non-profit, non-political women’s service organization. Membership is available to any woman 18 years or older regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolutionary War.
The Big Cypress Chapter, NSDAR, membership is a rich mixture of ages from millennial to those approaching one hundred years. We work locally, regionally, and nationally to carry out the DAR objectives of promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America’s future through better education for children.
We thank you for your interest in the work of our chapter and happily invite you to join us. An excellent way to find out what we are all about and confirm your interest in the DAR is to attend one of our regular meetings as our guest! If you would like to join us for a chapter meeting, or would like more information about DAR and our chapter, please contact our chapter regent, who would love to hear from you.
